Bayerische Motoren Werke - English: Bavarian Motor Works, that’s what BMW stands for! The company was created in 1916. After the end of WWI in 1918, BMW was forced to cease aircraft-engine production. The company consequently shifted to motorcycle production in 1923, and later by automobiles in 1928–29. The first car which BMW successfully produced and launched the company on the road to automobile production was the Dixi, based on the Austin 7. BMW went into troubles after WWII and was in financial difficulties with no choice left than going into liquidation or finding a way of carrying on. It was decided to carry on and the rest belong to the Legend.
