1966 Oldsmobile Toronado Apparel and Accessories by Legend Lines

“Oldsmobile”The introduction of the Toronado to the Oldsmobile line in 1966 is considered to be among its most significant innovations created during the company's existence. The Toronado was the first front-wheel-drive car from General Motors and the first such American vehicle produced since the Cord of the 1930s. Among the accolades bestowed upon the Toronado was the Motor Trend Car of the Year honors. The research and experimentation had concluded that it would reduce weight, reduce production costs, and improve fuel economy. Perhaps the only downside to the Toronado was the fact that in it came with drum brakes on all four corners. Given the weight these brakes tended to fade relatively quickly – an issue that was rectified in 1967 when vented front disc brakes were offered as an option. The interior eschews bucket seats and console in favor of a front bench seat, the better to show off the novelty of the car's flat floor. The first two years are considered to be the most attractive with the original concept getting watered down progressively post-1967. The Toronado is on most lists as a milestone car with solid engineering and fantastic style.
