Triumph Spitfire Apparel and Accessories by Legend Lines
In 1962 Triumph introduced a two-seater sports car named the Spitfire to commemorate the famous WWII fighter aircraft. Top speed was just over 90 mph and 0-60 took about 17 seconds, which, in the 1960's, was good The Spitfire was produced for 18 years, a tribute to its stylish and sporty design, economical price tag, fuel efficiency and the fun it gave behind the wheels. The Triumph Spitfire was designed to compete in the small sports car market. Italian designer Michelotti was commissioned for the new project, and came up with a traditional, swooping body. Wind-up windows were, as well as a single-piece front end, which tilted forwards to offer unrivalled access to the engine. Triumph was in deep financial trouble, and it was not until the company was taken over by the Leyland that the car was launched, in 1962.
